Investment and Trust Services Our Trust Department has been available to our customers for many years, but many people are not aware of all the services available to them through our Trust Department. Please feel free to contact us, if we can be of service to you in any way. Retirement, College, Healthcare and Investment Management ACCOUNTS: We offer many different ways to save for your future. A Traditional IRA is an Individual Retirement Account that allows you to invest for your retirement. This account can also be SELF-DIRECTED which allows you to determine how your funds are invested. This could include Individual Stock, Managed Funds Portfolios, Certificate of Deposits, or Savings Accounts. In most circumstances, this account is tax deductible. A Roth IRA is a non-deductible account that features tax-deferred growth and possible tax free distributions for certain distribution reasons after a five year holding period. There are no required distributions for Roth owners. A Simple IRA Plan is a Savings Incentive Match Plan for Employees offered by a small business with no more than 100 employees as a simple alternative to a 401(k). A SEP IRA Plan is a Simplified Employee Pension Plan which allows an employer to provide a retirement plan for employees by making a contribution to each employee's traditional IRA. A 401(k) Small Business Simplified Pension Plan allows owners of small business' and employees to invest for their retirement. A 403(b)(7) Plan allows you to invest for your future retirement through a non-profit employer. A 457 Plan is an employer sponsored retirement plan designed for state and local government employees. A Health Savings Account (HSA) allows you to set aside funds to help meet a high insurance deductible amount in association with certain Medical Health Insurance Plans. A Coverdell Education Savings Account allows you to save for your children or grandchildren for education expenses. No tax is paid by either the contributor or the child on the interest earnings.

The Citizens Managed Funds Portfolios (CMF) were developed by the Trust & Investment Services of Citizens State Bank & Trust Co. of Ellsworth, Kansas as a way to offer a diversified managed investment portfolio to our customers for a low initial investment. These portfolios are made up of some of the nations top performing mutual funds as rated by Morningstar mutual fund rating service and Value Line Mutual Fund Survey. The underlying mutual funds of the Citizens Managed Funds Portfolios are grouped by objective and management style so as to provide a complimentary range of investment options from conservative to aggressive employing an asset allocation strategy as advocated by modern portfolio theory. The primary criteria for choosing each mutual fund include the following requirements; an average historical rating of 3 stars or better as rated by Morningstar, a 3 year peer group rating in the top 25% as rated by Value Line Mutual Fund Survey, an expense ratio which will allow the overall portfolio annual expense to remain under 2% and no loads or sales charges. When possible, institutional share classes will be used. The performance of each Citizens Managed Funds Portfolio is monitored weekly and the percentage of investment in each underlying mutual fund is subject to annual rebalancing. The performance of the underlying funds is monitored daily and each underlying fund is subject to replacement at any time if deemed prudent by the Trust Committee of Citizens State Bank and Trust Co. The Kansas Portfolio is our tax free bond portfolio developed for higher income investors who desire a tax-free income stream. This portfolio generates monthly dividends that are free from federal income tax, and largely free from Kansas State Income Tax and local county intangible tax. This portfolio is also very conservative investing in Kansas bonds with an A rating or higher as rated by Moody’s bond rating service. Investors in this portfolio should have a 2-5 year investment time frame. The Income Portfolio is designed for investors seeking a monthly income from dividends as well as some growth potential. The normal asset allocation for this portfolio will be 5% cash, 75% bonds and 20% equities. This portfolio was developed for investors with a low tolerance for risk and an investment time frame of 3-5 years. The High Income Portfolio was developed for investors seeking a relatively high monthly dividend for income purposes along with some stock exposure for growth purposes. The normal asset allocation of this portfolio will be 5% cash, 65% bonds and 30% equities. Investors in this portfolio should expect the value of their investment to fluctuate and should plan on an investment time frame of at least 3-5 years. The INCOME & GROWTH Portfolio is to provide income with growth potential to somewhat conservative investors. The normal asset allocation of this portfolio is 5% cash, 55% bonds and 40% equities. This portfolio was designed for investors with a low to moderate tolerance for risk and an investment time frame of 5 years or more. The Balanced Portfolio offers investors the potential for share price appreciation as well as monthly dividend income. The normal asset allocation for this portfolio is 5% cash, 45% bonds and 50% equities. This portfolio is best suited for investors with a moderate tolerance for risk and an investment time frame of 5 years or more. The Growth & Income Portfolio is designed for investors who are moderately aggressive and seek the growth potential of stocks but who also want the cushion of dividend income. The normal asset allocation of this portfolio is 5% cash, 35% bonds and 60% equities. Investors in this portfolio should have a moderate to high tolerance for risk and an investment time frame of 6 years or more. The GROWTH Portfolio is for the more aggressive investor. The normal asset allocation of this portfolio is 5% cash, 25% bonds and 70% equities. Investors in this portfolio need a high tolerance for risk and share price volatility and an investment time frame of at least 7 years. The Aggressive Growth Portfolio is the most aggressive portfolio we offer. The normal asset allocation of this portfolio is 5% cash, 15% bonds and 80% equities. Investors in this portfolio can expect significant volatility in principal value. This portfolio is designed for investors with a high tolerance for risk and a 7-10 year or longer investment time frame. We handle the paper work and the IRS reporting that is required. Agent Accounts are accounts we offer to manage property for your benefit which would include paying bills, collecting rent, and investing proceeds as you direct. Trust Accounts include a trust which is an arrangement under which property is owned and managed by one person, a trustee, for the benefit of another person. Property can be almost anything of value such as stocks, real estate, jewelry, coins, etc. As a Trustee, we manage this property for you. There are several trust accounts available. They are Living Trusts, Guardianships, Testamentary Trusts, Charitable Trust, Conservatorships, and Insurance Trusts. As Executor of Your Estate you can name the Trust Department as executor in you will. You will ease the burden of the responsibility from others for whom it may be a hardship for them to perform this task. The Trust Department can be relied upon to be there when needed to handle all the details. A Guardian and/or Conservator Account is an account through a court appointed process which would allow us to act on your behalf in case of your incapacitation. An Attorney-in-Fact Account is an account through a power of attorney which would allow us to act on your behalf in case of your absence or incapacitation. Our Corporate Bond Department serves as the registrar, paying, and transferring agent for local bond issues to help our community.
